Summary
War Games is a collaborative AU created by Team Tactics, based on the premise "What if Spirit was in the War of Ages... and what if that wasn't a good thing?" It is a branching-timeline story that is currently being written into a longfic and multiple side stories. The main themes are the meaning of the "greater good," the worth of pyrrhic victories, love as both a destructive and regenerative force, grief and recovery, and the ways people react to pressure. Remember: war does not forge good people.
There are a number of “side stories” and “what-if stories” in the AU, which are told in the War Games Side Stories series. These stories are mostly non-canonical to the core series and are written by Team Tactics. Side stories will be added to the series in no particular order, but the series will be maintained in chronological order (or as close as we can get with a time travel/alternate universe story).
Team Tactics consists of five members: shadows_of_stars, TwoDumbasses, Hytia, Rose, and twistsandturns. shadows_of_stars is our primary “prosist” (turning the story into fic) — blame them for any issues with the writing.

“If you escape, it’ll be treated as a case of treason. Do you understand?”
They both knew what treason meant. It meant being killed.
“I can’t die.”
The look on Ghirahim’s face was nothing short of ghastly.
“We’ll make you wish you could.”
Or; Dark is kept in a small, empty room for hours at a time as punishment whenever he fails to kill the heroes. It does more damage than he realises, and, when a foiled escape plan somehow leads to Dark ending up among the chain... Maybe he can start to heal.

Summary
Legend had one job the second time he was dragged on a quest that involved time travel and ancestors, and the second time a quest involved meeting other heroes: Don't get attached.
Thankfully, the other heroes seemed to believe the mask he wore, and most of them didn't bother with him as a result except to argue, especially Twilight and Warriors. Now, if only someone could tell the kid behind the mask to stop reaching out to the brothers he lost after Hytopia, that would be great.
And if they could stop the pouring, frigid rain so Legend wouldn't get even sicker, that would also be great.
