    “You wish.” Kyle keeps his voice leveled and tightens his fists. He just needs to focus and pull Jason away, or construct a shield around himself, just enough to get him off and gather his thoughts.

    “No, you’re not scared, are you?” There’s a note of wonder in the modified voice, a beat too long before Jason speaks again. “Seriously? That’s all it takes, me pulling a knife on you?” The edge of mockery is enough to snap Kyle out of it.
