Will Byers had been lonely for a while now, feeling so out of place even when he was surrounded by all his friends - his party. There was a time when being around these people would have felt overwhelming, but in a good way. There was a time when being around Mike Wheeler, just being in the same room as him, would have been utter bliss and comfort.
That felt like a lifetime ago now.

“You can’t have him,” Mike hissed, his nails digging into Will’s skin as he clung even tighter. It was like Mike was trying to absorb him. “I won’t lose him again. Never. Again.”
“We won’t take him from you. I promise. But you are hurting him Mike. You don’t want to hurt Will, do you Mike? You never want to hurt Will, you want to protect him.”
Mike snarled at Nancy, “Never! I would never!”

Starting as an uneventful dinner it suddenly erupts into a violent confrontation when Steve finally lashes out about his parents’ neglect. His father physically attacks him, until the arrival of Chief Hopper interrupts the scene.

Mike's face hasn't turned towards the movie for a good 20 minutes. He's been watching Will instead- his soft chuckles at the jokes, how the corners of his lips tug downwards when the two main characters fight, the grin that dances on his mouth when they make up. Mike has the sudden urge to speak. He clears his throat, and Will turns to him. His face is illuminated only by the tv screen and moonlight seeping in through the window, softening his features. Mike feels his eyes widen and lips part slightly. Something inside him panics, and before he can stop it-
"I don't like your boyfriend." The words tumble out of his mouth.
Or
Mike visits Will after college and meets his boyfriend
It unlocks some VERY repressed feelings.
