"And what shall I do in my year of solitude? Keep vigil to ensure your heart does not stop? I cannot lose that which is dearest to me, Louis. I cannot." Louis face contorted: lips pulled down and eyes askance. He was disappointed in Armand, clearly, though the misstep remained obscure.
"No," Louis sighed. "Find something to do, acquaint yourself with the modern age. Movies have gotten a lot better."
"Alright," Armand nodded. The words ripped unwillingly from his throat, his chest. "Alright."
One year, and then a clean slate. A rebirth of sorts.

Armand deals with the fallout from San Francisco. Louis wants a break. Daniel does a little revenge-stalking.

Summary
Daniel had assumed, after nearly five hundred years, that the novelty of any human plights would have worn off - but Armand seemed to enjoy it, the way he suffered, so uniquely human and alive. He seemed obsessed with all the ways he could ache, he could endure. He watched Daniel sigh, watched him cough, watched him blink. He stared into his mouth when he yawned. He barely left his side the entire week Daniel had a cold, instead watching and listening and memorising, like this random mortal sneezing could possibly be interesting enough to remember over five centuries worth of recollection.
He’d given up trying to understand Armand. It was easier, being kept guessing.

Summary
Daniel would see him most nights after rehearsal out on the balcony of whatever hotel they were staying at that night, that week, depending on the number of shows. Moonlight bouncing off his hair and making it look lighter than it was. Sometimes he’d smoke, but lately he’d just been standing still. Statue-like but not statuesque, nothing romantic about the position. Daniel thought he looked plastic like that, unmoving, dressed up all strange and colorful like a little girl’s Ken doll. Sharp lines and shadows on a wide jaw, hands held unnaturally still at his side, eyes focused on something, though Daniel was never sure what.
