Lately, Yukako acts more like a tree: she pines, not stalks. Leave it to Josuke and Okuyasu to pick up the slack at the school library, combing Koichi’s search history.
"Good news for Koichi's dignity! It's not porn."
“No shit,” says Okuyasu. He jabs the clunky glass screen. Josuke roves the cursor, slowly loading Internet Explorer with a WebMD page on Borderline Personality Disorder. They flinch; The screen zaps black.
"Guys," groans Koichi. He straightens up from behind a pile of ‘zines. A plug dangles from his hand. “Please stop invading my privacy?"
Okuyasu retorts, “You’re the one who’s bein’ rude. Can’t just decide Yukako’s got, uh, borderclime, uh. Condition.”
“She told me,” says Koichi, wincing at his friend’s errors.
“Ah,” is a noise that happens from Josuke. His mouth and nose are swaddled in a net of violent hair.
“Hi,” says the owner of violent hair. Catching sight of Koichi, she blushes furiously and dashes, inadvertently dragging Josuke behind in a whirlpool of Aqua Net hairspray and teen misery, toppling every chair in the process.
“You like her?” asks Okuyasu, mortified.
“No,” says Koichi. He means it. “But I want to believe in second chances.”
