Tony knew, with a sick sense of always right, that the moment James Buchanan Barnes steps out of the plane (Hell, his mind whispers, even before) flanked by Steve, that Tony suddenly realizes that he’s the least important man on the tarmac. That he always has been.
And as he watches the two lovers, he expects the disconsolate, gut wrenching feeling of watching a self-destructive prophecy unfold. He expects to feel as he has everyday for the past month. Instead, he feels a cool, sickening feeling of nothing. He isn’t sure which is worse. Stark men are made of iron, but even that begins to rust when mistreated.

Except they’re not because the black hair she sees is a civilian and the Uchiwa crest she views is actually not anything similar, and she officially thinks she’s going crazy. Summary
“I thought you said he’s grumpy and surly and has a staring problem,” Sarah says, complete with accusatory side-eye. “That man does not look grumpy and surly to me.”
Sam has to concede that in this particular moment, Sarah is right. Bucky looks the furthest thing possible from grumpy and surly right now: he’s in evidently animated conversation with Carlos and Mrs. Grace the librarian and Marie from down the road, and a smile is never far from Bucky’s face. Hell, as Sam watches, Bucky laughs at something Mrs. Grace says, and Sam feels about as dizzy and disoriented as if he’s just been knocked on the head and then spun around, because what the hell.
Sam and Bucky may be partners now, but they still have a lot of getting to know each other to do. For Sam, letting Bucky get to know him is proving to be a more difficult prospect than expected. At least, it is until an exposure to truth serum leads to some revelations about his and Bucky's relationship.

"The frantic pulse of fear doesn’t ease until Sam catches sight of Barnes for the first time since the end of the battle: he’s dirty and disheveled, and still, somehow, impossibly, the best thing Sam’s ever seen. The gallop of Sam’s heart slows, and the tightness in his lungs eases so suddenly that it’s like he’s gone buoyant, ready to float away without the help of any wings. Barnes turns as if he can sense Sam looking at him, and when he meets Sam’s eyes, he smiles, and it’s the brightest damn thing on this battlefield, a shock of sweetness in the midst of so much dark bitterness and confusion. Sam smiles back, giddy with joy and relief.
He thinks, thank God Bucky’s okay.
Then he thinks, wait, what the fuck?"
After realizing there are some unexpected side effects for those who've been brought back to life after the Snap, Sam and Bucky slowly but surely learn that if they want to be loved, they must submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known [via soul bond].

“Keys to Steve’s place in Brooklyn, and his motorcycle. Some records about his, ah, accounts and things. He—well, he hasn’t been declared officially dead, we can’t, you know, say anything about the time travel, but—”
“He’s not coming back,” says Bucky, before Banner has to try to couch it softly, or spare Bucky’s assumed feelings. It’s a courtesy Bucky doesn’t need. His feelings have seemed very far away since Steve left. “I know.”
"Yeah, so, uh, I just figured you should have all this."
Bucky is doing fine after the Blip. He has his amends, he has his exit strategies, he goes to therapy. Steve's gone, but that's fine, Bucky can deal with that, even if he can't deal with feeling like a ghost in the apartment that Steve left behind. But when Steve returns, they'll both have to deal with how to rebuild a friendship and a home that are haunted by the ghosts of who they used to be. Their methods of doing so are perhaps less than ideal, what with how they involve more sex and stealthy surprise interior decoration than any actual communication. Maybe that's all they need to make a new home together.

Steve hasn’t exactly had the time to really examine his new and improved dick. He hopes, suddenly, that this isn’t the one thing the serum has failed to fix. Compared to not being able to breathe properly, it’s a small thing, Steve will admit that. That his dick takes forever to get hard and often fails to stay that way is—was, now, hopefully—pretty low on Steve’s list of ailments, as frustrating as it was.
Steve Rogers is very much not a virgin. Not before the serum, and sure as hell not after it, when the serum ramps up his libido along with everything else. Too bad everyone thinks Captain America is a sexless historical symbol. Or: the tragicomic sexual odyssey of Steve Rogers, and how it begins, and then much later ends, with Bucky Barnes.- Language:
