Does that mean his memories stop somewhere before they joined the volleyball club, or is it less clear-cut than that? It probably isn't fair to ask Yamaguchi what he can and can't remember. It's like asking him to remember the last footprint he left.
In other words - Yamaguchi forgets, and Kei starts to realise something he should have known all along.
