That reptilian head tilts curiously as it takes a deep, hissing breath in through its mouth (which, Wriothesley sees now, is very full of sharp teeth), its silvery eyes then narrowing and darting to the side as if carefully considering something.
Wriothesley is about to take that opportunity to dart into the woods, when—
“Duke Wriothesley?”
The familiar voice is kept low but still it is loud, almost felt more in his chest and bones than heard in his ears.

In other words, a wolf goes for a run and accidentally encounters the dragon he’s been having complicated feelings about. The complicated feelings are mutual, but they can’t address it, and that still doesn’t stop them from being a little too close for “coworkers.”
