Summary
It was all Sirius' fault. Regulus had caught him flirting with a muggle-born and immediately reported it back to their parents and Sirius had been stuck, backed into a corner. He either had to marry a pureblood of his choosing, or his parents would pick for him. If he was not the heir then he probably could have gotten away with saying "fuck you" to his parents. He would have been blasted from the tree and disowned but he would have survived.
As the heir, he would likely meet a more grisly fate. He wouldn't just be disowned… he would have to disappear, which would be absolutely fine if that didn't really mean that his body would likely turn up at the bottom of the Thames.
So he was left with no choice.
He had to get married, and there was only one pureblood that he would even consider marrying, but James was his very straight best friend who could never love Sirius in the way he yearned for. What Sirius didn't count on was that James was an arse that didn't think about consequences.
"So?" He’d said with his signature cocky smile that made Sirius go weak at the knees. "Just pretend to date me?"

In a universe where the red string is merely a visual representation of the soulmate bond a person's had since birth, it appears when that person is ready to find their soulmate. Most of the time, both soulmates see the string for the first time at or very near the same time. But, occasionally, one soulmate gains the ability to see the string long before the other and these "pining bonds" are absolutely indistinguishable from the extremely rare one-sided soul bonds.
Of course, when James still can't see the string three years after Sirius first saw it, Sirius assumes the worst. And when James declares his intention to propose marriage to Lily Evans at the end of Seventh Year, Sirius sees a guaranteed future of just hanging on as their unwanted third wheel. Determined to see his best friend and soulmate happy and unburdened by that future, he commits to severing the bond with a dark spell at the risk of his own life.

Din Djarin successfully redeems himself in the Living Waters of Mandalore, and discovers the statute of Tarre Viszla before leaving the planet. Things just get weird from there. And somehow, he lands in the past to save Jaster Mereel and deliver him the Dark Saber. Tarre and the Dark Saber seem to believe Jaster is the only one worthy to bear the title of Mand'alor in the last several decades, only because Din doesn't want the damn thing. He's not fit to be Mand’alor.
