Summary
The tires beneath the vehicle fought for traction on the ice, a harsh, skidding scrape vibrating up through the frame. The engine whined, high and strained, dashboard lights flickering in frantic bursts of red and amber. Windshield wipers dragged across the glass with a rhythmic thunk-swipe, smearing snow into streaks that caught and warped the glow of the streetlight outside.
Her thoughts snapped apart.
Jane’s hands clamped around the steering wheel, fingers stiff, slick with cold sweat as she tried to steady the car. Her breath snagged in her throat, chest too tight to pull in air, stomach twisting hard with a sharp, rising panic. Her foot slammed down on the brake.
The car didn’t stop. It slid.
aka Jane gets into an accident on the way home to meet her alpha, feelings ensue. Happy ending!

The pounding on the door is what jolts Shane awake. Instinctively he tries to jump to his feet and rush to get it, but a heavy weight around his torso and on top of his legs prevents him from moving. As consciousness slowly returns to him, breaking through the haze of his hangover—and possible still-drunken state—he realizes that he is being held by Rozanov.
