Summary
After the catastrophic attack on the Resistance Head Quarters, the Sarentu has done everything in their power to remain afloat. Clinging onto the belief that they, and they alone could repair the damage the humans had caused.
But what is one to do when clutching the fragments of shattered glass together, trying to stop the crumbling sheet begins cutting away at their own flesh and bone? Jagged edges tearing into skin until blood seeps and pools underfoot, still desperate to hold onto the sharded pieces remaining stubbornly resolute. Even if it may cost their own life.
One suffers and falls. Only clutching tighter, harsher despite the anguish refusing to let go of a fist full of broken glass. That is unless someone is there to pry their hands free.

Summary
"I'm- I’m a coward, Rasi.” He admits, voice solemn, like there was no room for any doubt about his character. “I am terrified of losing them.. As if keeping them at bay would make things easier even if– if something did happen–”
But something had happened.. Though he loathed to remember what Wukula had said, he knew it was the truth…
His gaze got heavier as it rested on Tamí'tey's stirring chest - he half-expected for it to stop rising at any moment.
“My fear held me back, and in turn it got them hurt. In. More ways than I even care to imagine.” So'lek sucked air through his teeth, his head bowing towards Tamì'tey's knuckles as he raised their hand to his forehead.
“I-I couldn't protect them from the RDA- from Wukula, from being locked up again- what good am I, Rasi? What good would I be as a mate? I failed them.”
Rasi didn't interrupt the silence as she observed the steady warrior so bowed, hiding his tears from her out of shame, and it was much like a knife to Rasi's heart to see him like this.

Summary
Simon wakes up aboard a strange ship with an angel and an alien. He's probably dead, but maybe he's not.
----
“You’re awake!” The angel says, voice sounding incredibly happy. It takes on a more wary tone as the angel’s silhouette moves in the doorway. “Don’t be afraid, we’re here to help!”
What an angelic, holy thing to say, Simon can’t help but think.

And Ryland Grace will love Simon in the next life, and the one after that, and all the ones after that.
And Ryland Grace will sit on an empty shore of a dead sea under a forgotten moon and watch Simon live a long, full life; loved and safe and happy and free, trails of ice crystals and moondust left in his wake as he chases the light of thousands of shining stars.

Summary
Simon waited.
Waited for them to apologize. Tell him there’s nothing they could do. That he wasn’t worth the trouble or resources, that he wasn’t worth the time.
But that never came.
Instead, after a second Grace came back on the line, his voice sounding determined now. “Alright,” he said. “Hang tight.”
Simon blinked slowly. “What?”
