“Can you imagine,” Pierre murmured, his voice warm and loose with the cheap beer and the victory still buzzing in his veins, “in a few years we’ll be like this in F1? Together on the podium.”
“I wouldn’t want to share the podium with anyone else,” Esteban said.
He meant it. Maybe more than he should.

Summary
Pierre turned toward the door before Esteban could answer, his hand already grabbing the handle. For a moment he hesitated. Just a second.
Something in his chest twisting painfully, like part of him wanted Esteban to say something - anything - that might stop him from walking away.
But nothing came.
So Pierre pulled the door open. “Sometimes,” he said finally, his voice hoarse now, “I wish I had never met you.”
The door slammed shut behind him.

OR: Pierre's wish is granted, and he gets transferred to a different universe where Esteban never became a driver.
