Summary
Ilya is bored at home when Boston is eliminated from the play-offs. It would still be weeks before he could see Hollander again and it was starting to gnaw at him. He needed something new, exiting, that would satisfy his needs until they were together again. He had a little surprise shipped to Shane's home in Montreal: a butt plug. He asked Shane to wear it on his flight to New York, where they played the final game of the season. Shane agreed, obviously. The trip wasn't exactly very smooth. It was a wild ride, with lot's of ups and downs. Turbulence. You get the idea.

He was, objectively, handsome; you probably had to be, to get a photoshoot with what Shane was quickly realizing was a glorified skin mag. But the thing that caught Shane’s attention was the dark marks that littered the Omega’s skin.
Shane swallowed hard, unreasonably affected by the image.
He didn’t want the Omega.
But he could see the appeal of being him.

Ilya flattens his palms, skims them under Shane’s undershirt, feels the flat solidity of his abs, the bulk of his lats, the swell of his chest. It’s the same and it’s new, this body; it’s the boy he couldn’t stop thinking about when he was 18 and the man he loved enough to let go at 26 and the person who somehow always comes to find him when he’s lost.

or, Ilya's father doesn't die in 2017; Ilya breaks up with Shane instead of confessing his love. They get older, but not any less stupid about each other. Shane gets a boyfriend; Ilya gets on medication; they work on becoming whole people. And they always find their way back to each other.
OR a story for those who love Shane and Ilya's baby love but ALSO think it's hot when people in their thirties make active choices about who they are and what they want in their partner!!
Note: the "cheating" tag refers to the relationship between Shane and his aforementioned BF, not to Shane and Ilya cheating on each other.
