“I’d like to be alone, thank you,” Vala says loudly. She doesn’t like the way Teal'c’s looking at her: like he can see right through her. She can’t deal with that right now. She’s barely been out of the infirmary for six hours; surely she can make it a little longer than that before someone forces her to talk.
“Sometimes the things we would like are not in our own best interests,” Teal’c remarks, ignoring her request and stepping fully into the room. “Often, even.”
Six hours it is, then.

Vala's expression softens. Her fingers ghost across Daniel's cheek, light as a feather. "You really do remind me of someone," she says, and tilts her head, studying him intently. "Some sentimental idiot I met once."
Daniel's heart catches in his chest. "Oh yeah?"
