The police and authorities were incompetent and corrupt and no one could do anything to resolve the problem…until Charles Choi suggested the idea of forming an underground yet 'legal' fighting ring.
Daniel Park’s just the attractive hired medical help that gets caught in the crossfire.

Jay's head magnetised to the inside of Daniel's right thigh, then, sort of in a way that made it seem like he was soliloquying against a tree. Then tell me what's wrong – please. And he ran his warm hands up either side of Daniel's thighs in a way to comfort them both.
Daniel sighed, glancing dubiously at the window. It was now far closer to dusk, and the new silvery light made everything seem colder. "It's just..." Daniel tried choosing his words carefully, but found that they were already queued on his tongue without so much as a bouncer. "Sometimes I wonder if we'd still be doing this if I was different."
Jay's spine straightened out of intrigue. 'Different?'
"If I didn't look the way that I did," Daniel clarified, "you know: heavier. Bigger, maybe. Certainly not... attractive." That last word came out in the form of a whisper. "Would we even be friends?"
—Daniel asks Jay an important question.
