Everything is different, Genos' family doesn't die in the hands of the Mad Cyborg and Saitama is already a well established hero.
In Genos' heart a poison starts, it twists and fills him up completely, feelings he'd never had before, wants he was inexperienced to, something that starts good and turns strange.
The God we are so afraid is good, the God is Saitama. Genos wants this God, His God, to be his to worship, cherish, and love. And he'll get what he wants even if it means losing himself in the middle.

Summary
Superboy hadn’t died in a fight, nor in a heroic way, he died from a deadly virus, alone and forgotten by everyone, in a hospital.
However, he wakes up- wakes up in the past, once again inside the Cadmus laboratory, when he’s freed by Robin, Aqualad, and Kid Flash. Again… locked up again… destined once more to be used as a weapon… destined once more to die alone.
So when they escape the facility this time, Superboy decides to leave before they can stop him before Superman arrives, before he can be hurt again, before everything repeats.
Superboy no longer wants to be a hero. He wants to live, to be a person, to have a family and now, he will choose his own destiny under the name Conner.
