Summary
The kitchen is Bitty's safe space, the one place in the world where he's always known who he is, what he's good for, and what comes next. In Bitty's tumultuous senior year, as he juggles schoolwork, an NCAA team captaincy, and an increasingly transparent relationship with Jack, he needs the comfort of good old Southern cooking more than ever. This is the wrong damned time for an upsetting comment on his vlog to send him on a quest to discover the true roots of his beloved food traditions, and jostle some family skeletons along the way.

The best sense of rhythm -- dialogue, punchlines, little bruising character nuances, the way it swings from snark to tenderness and back -- I've read in a hot minute. I love all the characterizations, but especially Felix.

Summary
“Felix,” Hyunjin said again, louder. “You’re staring.”
“Sorry,” Felix murmured, too quiet to be heard over the thumping music. The man was – older. The greys in his dark, curly hair almost glowed under the flashing lights. He had a strong nose and a plush mouth, broad shoulders and a narrow waist that was highlighted by his tucked black shirt. When he smiled the lines that bracketed his mouth went almost as deep as his dimples. He was hot. Despite his age or because of it, Felix didn’t know. Couldn’t be sure. If they went home together, he wouldn’t be the oldest guy Felix had ever slept with, but he definitely wouldn’t be the youngest.

"Oh, this is delicious. I love your writing, which is warm and funny and filled with the most perfect observations and sensory details—their sunburnt ears, their texting styles, the luxurious sex scenes. Most of all, I love this relationship and all the little nuances that make it feel specific and real and viable and hopeful. Age gap fic often dwells on power, and power imbalance can be fun to play with for sure, but what I adored about this story was how balanced it was, and how carefully and curiously you tinkered with the balance, poked and prodded it and tipped it this way and that, and ever-so-sweetly bullied the characters into reckoning with it—at least insofar as was necessary for a summer fling. I liked that Felix was a grad student with a safe place to land, and droll, clever, ride-or-die friends, and at least as much useful relationship experience as Chan. God, the friends, and the background relationship shenanigans that you sketched with flawless restraint, were so fucking funny. I feel like I'm going to be daydreaming cheesy little sequels about them for the next month."

Girls are cool. Girls are great, even. Girls have such soft skin and smell so good. Girls always melt when you kiss them, sigh when you touch them. The thought alone is enough to make him dizzy, sometimes. Girls would be the hottest beings on Earth if Christopher Bahng didn’t exist. But Felix isn’t one. People just assume he is.

My comment: Love your characterizations. Complex, quippy, devious Felix doesn't get nearly enough representation in fic for my greedy self. You have a good ear for dialogue -- the banter and stage business made me laugh out loud, and it also felt really natural and lived in, and also fresh: you have a unique rhythm for these two that I really love. I liked the way the conversation zig-zagged; I could feel their clever brains ticking away in between sentences. I also looooved the mutual give-and-take in their dynamic. Besotted, but take-no-shit (at least not when it counts).

Summary
'Minho has got this roommate who Hyunjin isn’t sure about.
“Chan-hyung makes most of the tracks I use for showcases,” Minho tells him when they’re introduced for the first time.
“Oh, god, don’t even mention it, please,” Chan says. He meets Hyunjin’s eyes and half-smiles modestly down at the floor, cheeks pinking. Hyunjin’s hackles are up immediately. Hyunjin hates false modesty and Chan doesn’t have anything to be modest about. He’s got a muscle tee showing off his arms, the deep cuts in the side of his shirt to hint at his ribs. And his tracks are good. If Hyunjin made music that good, everyone would know about it. He doesn’t like the way Chan steals glances at him, either.
He’d better not try flirting. Not that the guy is bad to look at, but here? This place is supposed to be Hyunjin's escape from campus and all its eyes.'

I love the narration. It's just a little bit Austenish—though maybe I'm just always thinking about Austen when I read a really good free indirect POV—in the way it's aware of the characters' foibles, but fond of them anyway, and inviting us to be fond, too. Of all the spin-the-wheel options in this fandom, ace!Chan is particularly dear to my heart.
