Summary
The cooler is dragged down the beach, additional chairs are set up, and soon enough Kageyama and Hinata have dragged Asahi and the second years into their game. The beach quickly fills with sounds not unlike that of the gym back at school, and even Tsukishima, who had informed Daichi he was determined to actually relax—for once, even if the idiot duo is gonna be there, he had said—is sitting up on his elbows, trying his best to look uninterested although his hand is loosening itself from Yamaguchi’s grip and he keeps shifting with a restless energy he would be angry to know reminds Daichi a little of Hinata. Shimizu is playing referee, and Hinata is shouting that he can do it this time, really, stop laughing Kageyama, and the smack of the volleyball in the open air is novel and familiar all at once.
All of this is to say that Daichi is now practically alone, and when Suga turns back to him from where he’s dipping his toes in the water, letting the ocean slowly sink his feet further into the sand, the soft smile he sends over his shoulder is meant only for Daichi.

Daichi groaned, brown eyes finally opening. They met Koushi’s own, and he was sure they were full of mirth as his husband settled further in bed, getting comfortable.

Throughout their whole relationship, Kei felt like Tadashi was the one initiating all the "firsts". First kiss (as friends), first confession, first date, first kiss (as boyfriends), even first to mention moving in together. Now that they're older and beginning to settle into their domestic life together, Kei can't help but notice the empty slot on the ring finger of Tadashi's left hand, a stark constrant to all the other silver rings he wears, and Kei decided wants to be the one to fill that final space. More specifally, Kei wants to fill that final space with a beautiful silver band, their wedding ring, final, most official declaration of love, and a "first" for Kei among the many firsts of Tadashi.

He couldn’t, not when his brain was wrecked with memories, a past that felt like it had been burned at the edges for too long to fix now, but it hurt. “No… I don’t hate you, Tōru.” He took a deep breath. “I never have.”

“I know. I said things and did things I shouldn’t have, but I figured it would be best for us.”
“By leaving me alone?” The small tinge of hurt in those words made him run a hand through his hair to calm himself down. He couldn’t spill his guts here, not when Oikawa was drunk.

Summary
Yamaguchi is happy. He smiles every day, and cheers his teammates on, and gets good grades. He has a wonderful best friend who’s so much cooler than him, and a warm home to return to every night. He is confident and grateful and loves living.
He is not hurting. Blood does not spill from open wounds, does not stain his fingers or twirl down shower drains. It does not pool in the back of his throat and coat his teeth in metallic red. There is no nasty, writhing shame in his chest to be ignored.
He doesn’t wake up in the morning with dry, puffy eyes or cracked lips. He tends to his hygiene well, and remembers to drink more than just the tears that trail salt across his lips.
Of course he’s doing well. There’s no reason not to, and nothing else to be, after all.
