Summary
As the title says, this is an AU where Mono is the one to turn into a monster. Why? The Eyes were bored of seeing the same thing over and over again so they changed one small thing. Pretty simple, but I didn’t plan on this being so long, or anything at all really ☠️ The story leads to much more, but I can’t say anything else, lest it spoil the work :)
This work was inspired by “Monster Mono []Little Nightmares 2 Animation[]” by “AIDARE”! The design is from here and the concept got me really interested, and I just started writing. I had no idea where this would lead…

Kinger's pillow fort is home to lost things; today it harbors a sick and shivering Ragatha, sheltering her away from the storm of herself.
A crazy chess piece, a mug of digital tea, and oddly praticed parenting expertise may be a far cry from 'home' for Ragatha. But for now it will suffice as comfort's virtual substitute.

***Takes place after episode 6. There are NO spoilers to the Last Act, though the plot references a small detail revealed in the finale and alludes to episode 8.

The one that, despite all expectations (including their own), was the only one of the humans who hadn't lost themselves to abstraction (not yet anyway). The one that just wanted to go home, to leave the circus and all its horrors behind. The one that wished it would never hav to go on another adventure ever again. The one that just wanted to rest, to let go, to see their friends again.
Caine, the Ai ringmaster of The Amazing Digital Circus. The one that was meant to entertain, to bring joy to all those with good fortune to stumble upon his colorful world. The one that wanted to be loved and cherished by all under his watch. The one that was hated by all. The one that had to send every single Abstraction (every single member of his circus) to the cellar. The one that wanted to fulfill his purpose, to not be the failure he knew he was. The one that wanted someone, anyone, to be his friend.
