A Compilation fic for Cumplane Week 2026:
Shen Yuan wasn’t even sure how it happened. He’d typed out a long-winded comment about a loose end that Airplane had ignored in favor of yet another floral-themed aphrodisiac, and somehow he’d ended up with the author himself in his DMs. If only he had ignored that first message, he wouldn’t be sweating his ass off in a too-crowded convention center waiting to meet up with that little shit! Who was late! It really shouldn’t have surprised Shen Yuan so much that Airplane had no sense of punctuality!
He had intended to wait for Airplane to venture inside, but he was getting bored standing by the entrance. At least if he was walking around, he’d have something to distract from how heavy and suffocating all of these layers felt. Besides, there could be Binghe merch in there! Shen Yuan had no time to waste!
… He would at least text Airplane to let him know he was heading inside.
Or, two bros walk into a con. They both get more than they bargained for.

I knew the risks and I still chose you. And now that I see you again, and I know your name, and I can feel how right your scent is, I don’t regret it.” He shrugs, as simple as that. “Not one minute of the past two years or anything that happened that night. I don’t regret it.”
Mobei Jun is stunned by the strength of this man. Two years of pain and agony in a way Mobei Jun could never comprehend, and here is, claiming that night for himself, taking ownership of his choice. Mobei Jun barely knows Shang Qinghua, and yet he is so proud to call him his mate.

“Oh, that’s He Xuan. He’s a regular.”
They’re on their break. Shi Qingxuan sips his coke through a straw, a small bag of chips open in his lap. The break room had been so crowded, so they’re sitting in the bath section, tucked near the back where the cheapest tub options are displayed. Shi Qingxuan sits atop a faux-marble countertop, and Xie Lian is sinking relaxedly into the boxy bathtub. His phone is in front of his face, a twizzler dangling from his lips.
“At first, I thought he was gonna hit me for telling him we couldn’t do the refund.”
Xie Lian snorts, good-naturedly. “He Xuan is as harmless as a butterfly.” He bites off a piece of the twizzler, then takes the rest from his mouth, spinning it between his thumb and forefinger. “He’s just a little...eccentric.” Shi Qingxuan thinks that’s a charitable opinion, but he doesn’t say so. Xie Lian slides his phone into the pocket of the gaudy orange apron that’s a part of their uniforms. “Anyway, manager says we should give him refunds when he wants them. No matter what state he’s bringing things back in.”
“Why?” Shi Qingxuan asks, baffled.
Biting off another piece of candy, Xie Lian shrugs. “Maybe she’s got a soft spot for him, I dunno.”

“Oh,” Shi Qingxuan says. “Hm. Okay.”
“Okay?” White Beard shouts indignantly again. “That’s all you have to say?! Have you not heard of our captain before?!”
“I’ve heard of him. Who hasn’t heard of Black Water Sinking Ships? I’m just not particularly scared of him.”
He tilts his head up to stare at Black Water, whose mouth presses into a thin line. Black Water squints down at him in return, then stands. The crew members gathered in the room bow their heads, but Shi Qingxuan keeps his stubbornly raised as he stares right into Black Water’s captivating, freakishly golden eyes.
“You aren’t scared?”
Or; Being the second son of a rich merchant family puts a special kind of target on Shi Qingxuan's back. When the infamous pirate Black Water Sinking Ships decides to try his luck at kidnapping Shi Qingxuan with the intent of holding him for ransom, nobody expects friendships—nor love—to bloom as a result.

See, he didn’t think the array he wrote for a scene in his web novel would work. Now, he’s stuck with a demon king breathing down his neck, demanding to be returned to his realm. (On pain of death). So, of course, Shang Qinghua was working on it!
Except, the longer the two are together, the less either of them want Mobei Jun to go home.
