Author’s Disclaimer
I don’t own TDB characters, obviously. Just drag them in to play with my own characters when I have writer’s block. Don’t expect canon from me- I’ll be adding my own embellishments to the original melody. Our Last Goodbye never happened, the world didn’t burn, and the higher powers are sick of Darkwick’s shit.Setup: The honor student has died and everyone is in limbo. Most of them liked her– a few loved her. The Institute’s shackles have started to chafe at them, and they are no longer content to be controlled by liars and puppet masters. In a desperate attempt to rein in the ghouls and salvage Darkwick, the Institute brings in a new Inspector– one with her own curse and secrets.
Warnings for pretty much everything, I’m not known for fluffy bunny fics.

Summary
Kouta thought that he’d known everything about Darkwick.
They were tricksters and safety all in one, pulling the strings behind just about every incident about anomalies no matter how small. They only helped themselves and would use anyone they could to assure it stayed that way, all while preaching that they wanted to help those in tight spots caused by anomalies. They lied to those people, using them as puppets to take whatever they wanted.
But they were one of the biggest powers amongst the supernatural world, and that, in the end, made them safe. Safe enough he thought it might be worth it to put some level of trust into their faculty, if nothing else.
Turns out, even he hadn’t learned everything.
He really should have known better.
