So who would think that such an innocent gaze could harbor that much reserved hatred, for a man that loathed him with eyes of a bottomless pit? He didn't know, for he had never looked into his direction, for he refused to be engulfed in the abyss it extended to.
But when he did, Orpheus finds that those eyes held nothing but anguish and sorrow—that beyond the disgust and coldness it always brought, was the look of unrequited longing for the novelist, and it concerned him when he felt a tug on his heartstrings.
Because the night the prospector's confession was spoken, came the change he didn't expect between them.

Summary
There was something different about the man. Despite his youthful look, there was a heaviness to his shoulders that said he had hardened through prolonged suffering. His smile, his laugh, the way his eyes crinkled in the corner, it was definitely a slipping mask. The way Orpheus held himself was too rigid, too perfected, and he noticed the rise and fall of the brunet's chest was too long between his conversations and rest.
The man was peculiar. Yet, no matter what, his eyes always found the other's, and he gazed at him like he was a meal to be devoured, yet there was an odd reverence that was mixed within the hunger.
Fredrick didn't want to admit it intrigued him, even less that he wanted to tread that danger willingly, even if it meant falling into the maw of the novelist.

Orpheus also seemed disinterested—as if wanting to get the meeting over fast. However, he still reached under his desk to pull out a small coin purse. He delicately placed more than “a couple” of shillings worth—his entire week’s earnings—onto the desk. “I believe this should work for now. I don’t want a starved man on my property claiming I don’t feed my servants.”
Norton bristled at the word “servant”—damned rich bastard—but moreso he couldn’t believe his eyes. It was double his weekly income and more— all for a simple groundskeeping job? And the man’s social image? Just what kind of standards was Orpheus expecting of him? Did all of these manor employees get paid this much too? The rich always claimed there were eyes on them but the only ones that they truly should be concerned about were the eyes of the working class. It was only a matter of time until no one could take it anymore, after all.
“Y’ sure this is all for me?” Norton’s eyes glowed at the sight, toying with a coin beneath one fingertip he’d forgotten to clean the dirt out of.

Orpheus investigates the other manor attendees, finding special interest in a gruff prospector. With Campbell, will it turn into something more or flutter to nothing at all?
“I know you miss that composer,” Campbell’s rasp filled the quiet room after a moment of silent tension. “He left you high and dry.”
With apprehension and sudden fear, Orpheus’ face drained of any color it had once had. How did he know that—? How did he know of his and Kreiburg’s excursion? How could he possibly have guessed that without researching Orpheus himself in depth. The fact Norton brought up Kreiburg at all is a mystery— and it frightened him. The societal implications should he be blackmailed by the prospector. He had no doubt the other would do it for money. On the other hand, would someone really believe someone of his status over his own…? A small tidbit of relief sank through him however arrogant it may be.
“You just confirmed it for me,” hummed Norton with a condescending laugh. “Silence says it all. You’re too soft for someone coldhearted like Kreiburg or someone busy like me. But I can still fill that missing piece for you just fine.”

Truth be told, he'd assumed Shigaraki was making a sick joke at first when he told Dabi he had to prove himself to be left in charge of the Vanguard Squad during the Camp Raid and in order to do that, he wanted to watch Dabi be fucked by one of those abominations. He laughed it off and said "Whatever you want, boss" and didn't actually think the creep was serious. He had assumed he was bluffing once Shigaraki told him called him to meet him in some weird basement laboratory in a hospital and said he got everything in order, a large nomu with multiple limbs that had chainsaws and drills and all sorts of crazy shit fixed to them in place of hands chained up. He thought it was some kind of test, a twisted game of chicken to see if Dabi would back down, and he sure as hell wasn't going to let this entitled little shit win even if he wasn't bluffing.
Shigaraki wasn't bluffing.
...
Or, Shigaraki has a Nomu fuck Dabi and watches like a perverted little voyeur in the cuck chair.

Light picks up the keycard, puts on his jacket and shoes, and unlocks the door.
“Is that all?” L asks evenly, typing in staccato.

Light watches him with egotistic satisfaction, lips closed, corners up. Observes L's well-managed anxiety. Well-hidden fear. L's never seen Light show so much joy.
