They’d grown past the title of Graham Crossford’s son. His daughter didn’t set right either. Maybe there wasn’t a word for what they felt, and maybe it wasn’t needed. Just Kit seemed to suit them well enough. Their old travel clothes, reminiscent of what their father wore, belonged to the Kit of old. This new Kit, one who was happier and stood a little taller, decided to buy a pastel blue dress and a travel cloak to match it. They shook their hair free from its ponytail, set in a loose braid, and thought to themselves: I’m just Kit, and that’s all I need.
