Summary
Donnie blinked at Leo, trying to tighten his loose grip on Leo’s wrist. He had never seen Leo so sad, the pained grimace on his face made Donnie think that his very soul was being ripped in half.
But then again, maybe it was. Because Donnie was leaving him. In the most horrible and final way that he could be leaving him. This was something Donnie could not come back from, nor stop, and it was destroying a huge part of Leo in the process.
Donnie regretted that. He’d never wanted to hurt Leo. His brother. His best friend. His better half. Because Leo had always been that. Leo might not think so, but he’d always been the better of them. Donnie had to let him know that.
He tried to open his mouth. To speak. But his body was refusing to obey him. It was strangely terrifying, yet freeing at the same time. He was feeling less and less connected to his body.
But he couldn’t go yet. Not yet. There was something he had to tell Leo first. Something he had to do.
For as long as Donnie can recall Leo has insisted they are twins, but there is no scientific data supporting Leo's claim. It just isn't possible. Is it?

Unhinged, a voice sounding oddly like Leo sounded in his head. Mikey wishes that the slider would come into his room and tease him about that right now instead of raising his voice at Raph again.
Or, my take how Donnie and Mikey’s relationship began to strengthen in the two years between the Season 2 finale and the movie.

After the invasion, Mikey has had constant trouble with his arms after opening the portal to save his older brother. Leo, the insomniac he is, seems to have a sixth sense for when his brothers are in need of help, and after Mikey falls from his hammock due to the shaking of his arms, he might be able to pry some vulnerability from his brother in blue, even if a little.

Dear Jax,
Why do I begin all these letters with "dear Jax?" You weren't dear to me at all! You were an insufferable, insensitive, unlikeable, violent jackass who had absolutely no interest in changing. But I guess part of me assumed you'd give it up some day and get better. I don't know why, but the idea of you not getting a happy ending never felt real until you were already gone.

Or, Jax's abstraction hits Zooble a lot harder than they were expecting. They don't know how to explain this, not even to themself. At Kinger's suggestion, they attempt to anyway--through letters. They think it's stupid and pointless, but something makes them keep writing anyway.
