“Get out of the car,” Hopper says, finally, and Billy blows air out hard, breaking open the thin scabbing on his lip again.
He fumbles with the door, climbs out and stands there, his feet hot and sweating inside his sneakers. It’s awful, Hopper is looking at him with something like pity, enough silent sadness to infuriate him, and Billy can’t figure out how to get past this moment - and then. He doesn’t need to, because everything changes.

Summary
He's never been especially religious. Church always felt like some kind of long-winded farce. God and sin and all that praying just never seemed legit.
But seeing an angel makes him wonder if he should reconsider the whole religion thing.
It's a thing to behold, this angel -- in Levi's, a button down and a cigarette in his lips. It's not exactly something out of a bible, the look. But Steve is speechless anyway, mouth open stupidly while he watches.
"Gonna come out and chat or just stare at me all night?" The angel calls out, not so loud to be heard by anyone besides Steve, but loud enough that Steve knows he's been caught.
Gawking like a loser.
But not so dumb that he doesn't have his gun raised when he walks out of the shadows.
"What are you doing?" He asks first, aware that the question what are you goes unsaid. The angel laughs, smoke billowing out of his nostrils. It's oddly demonic for a man with wings.

Hawkins, Indiana makes Billy’s skin crawl. Something about this place makes him feel like he’s stretched too thin and like he’s moments away from falling through the ground. He knows that he’s lashing out because of it, but he can’t help it. His head is shoved full of facts he shouldn’t know and whenever he sees Maxine in the corner of his eye he’s always thinking of a different girl he knew years ago.
So fuck this place and the weird things it’s doing to him.
