He watches another shoal of fish go by in a streak of color. “I'm pretty sure the others want me to remind you that you're not alone, for the eighty-third time. You know, in case you were looking for that kind of thing.”
“The others, hmm?” Darem is hiding a smile. Caleb is still refusing to think of this as cute.
“There has, reportedly, been assholery.”
Darem has the grace to look a bit guilty for that. “It’s been a hell of a week.”

"Warfarin toxicity," Anisha finishes for her, her smile wide and fanged with stained teeth. It's an Earth gun--ancient, early 22nd century, physical lead bullets. One shot to the leg---one scratch---and Nahla is meat.
