Summary
Venice wasn't stupid. He knew that he had to sleep with his oxygen mask on. He knew Papa Pete had to work late sometimes, leading to one of his uncles picking him up. And he knew, more than anything, to never break a promise.
So when Papa broke a promise for the first time, in refusing to tell him about Daddy, Venice decided to break all his promises and eat cotton candy, and skip school.
But when a strange man saves him, and makes sure Papa keeps his promise, Venice realizes that the story between Papa and Daddy was far more complicated than he thought.
Especially when the strange man can't seem to stay away from Papa.

Wylan ran and ran and ran.
But no matter where Wylan fled to, his murder of Crows was never far behind.
