Summary
“My Pharaoh,” Isis says quickly, bowing almost anxiously.
“Isis,” Atem sits proper, giving her his full attention, as a small concerned frown tugs at his lips; he’s never witnessed the priestess so flustered, given that the Millennium Necklace can predict into the future.
“I apologize for my rushed behavior,” Isis apologizes in earnest. “I have news for you, my king.”
“Please continue,” Atem nods to her, as perhaps his earlier sensations meant something and it wasn’t just a mere fluke.
“My necklace, it showed me that we will have permanent company soon,” Isis begins softly, her tone warm, but tinged with a gentle sorrow reserved for the king, anticipating the pharaoh’s soon grief.
Priest Mahad briefly glances to Isis, “Could it be?” he asks gently.
It only takes that moment for that softened tone for Atem to clock it and a sudden grief wells up deep from within, as did a similar sorrow when he recalled the passing of his father. “Yugi,” he whispers, understanding now.
