Max doesn't think too much of it, the likelihood of Charles locking himself out again is high even though Max swears Charles told him he would be with Carlos for another 2 days?
Whatever Max expects it isn't Daniel Ricciardo, especially not Daniel Ricciardo with two duffle bags and a backpack.
Daniel offers him a lopsided grin before seemingly waiting for Max to step aside, and Max feels a wave of confusion settle over him.
“Can I help you?”
He knows Daniel by proxy, knows him as the party boy, the boy who ends up on every Frat’s instagram page. It's safe to say he isn't someone who floats in Max’s circles.
But Daniel just seems to look around sheepishly, and Max questions why Daniel is in shorts and without a coat in this weather?
“Ah, I'm Dan, sorry, Charles said I could stay here for a bit?”

Summary
“I got them for you Maxie.”
Max is silent for a while, Daniel can watch the way his pupils dilate, the way he weighs Daniel’s words for how likely this is to be the truth. It leaves the air so thick with tension and worry that Daniel feels his throat seize up, unable to swallow until Max fully relaxes into him.
“I, I wanted to surprise you with them tomorrow.”
He knows his face is bright red, but honestly he could care less because Max is beginning to breathe again and Daniel can finally let his body relax. He still scrunches up his face in confusion as he tries to piece together Daniel’s logic, but it's no longer in the hateful way from before.
“For me? But I, Daniel, I am not a girl of course.”
AKA Max and Daniel's first Valentine's Day together and Daniel just really wants to see Max in lingerie. Set in the Orange Juice universe!

Summary
Max hasn't let more than a few sips of beer pass his lips, wheaty and stale. His regime is tight and his schedule doesn't allow for any underage drinking, so he hasn't exactly thought about it. He knows that boys his age have already begun to clink back shots of vodka, tequila, anything they can get their hands on, but Max isn't like other boys, Max doesn't have the time to do these things.
He splits his time from track to track as his father drives him around. It's lots of the same thing, and he tells himself that none of it makes him miss his sister or his mother, he tells himself that he isn't jealous of those boys, tells himself that he doesn't want these things. It adds to a layer of deep cold that permeates his bones. He’ll keep ignoring that though.
It isn't until he meets Daniel that he ever really drinks.

Summary
Max’s waist is small, thin enough that Danny can fit both large hands nicely around it like he would a girl and yet Max is boxy. His hips are jagged where they should be smooth and Daniel feels his hands find a natural place to slot against, his thumbs pressing gently into Max. It makes him groan, a little breathy sound that gives Daniel the opportunity to slide his tongue into Max’s mouth and the heat seems to only intensify when he does. Max is soft, pliant and sweet in his arms as Daniel makes him sing. It's a chorus of whimpers that he pulls with each slide of their tongues, wet and hot and agonizing. He can feel Max’s legs weak beneath them and Daniel can't help the smile that blooms over his face.

Summary
Daniel can feel his temper coil tighter with every second. He wants Max to ask. Wants him to say it. To look him in the eye and own it. Because maybe, just maybe, if Max did that, Daniel could say no. Could tell him to fuck off. Could finally put this part of his life down and walk away from Formula One and Max Verstappen and all the ghosts that come with both.
Daniel has never been that lucky.
