An attempt at a SI-fic with a character not quite lucky enough to be given easy access to the main cast. Sporting a fresh case of “amnesia” and a disgustingly overpowered cursed technique to balance out his ineptitude, the casual fan who’s replaced Naoya Zen’in has enough on his plate without having to muddle through clan politics and the social repercussions of incarnating as such an utter bastard. It’s going to be really hard to save the world and not die when he’s barely involved in the original plot … and when he never even finished the damn manga.
Maybe he’s only half-lying when he says he doesn’t remember anything.

Summary

To find another resting inside would be both irreverent and scandalous. Their unexpected presence would be the cause for rumors to circulate for years to come, especially when the story of how they got there and what came after was too enticing to leave midway through another’s recount.
By listening entirely, one could learn that there was something more abhorrent than an intruder within the sacred honden. It was by listening that they would learn that the shrine’s kami, a tempestuous spirit, had taken mortal form to lie beside the Accursed King, a personified calamity, each night for an uninterrupted slumber...

Nanami suspected he should feel threatened by the curse’s presence, but there was something about the scene that had him more intrigued than fearful. Neither emotion compared to that of relief, for even if he wasn’t in control, seeing Itadori’s body in front of him had to mean that the boy was alive— had been alive all this time.
Their hope hadn’t been in vain.
About to open his mouth and address the curse, Sukuna raised a finger to his face and stopped him. He looked the sorcerer over in search of something and let out a growl between his teeth, leaving Nanami unsure if he found what he was looking for.
Then, Sukuna spoke.
“Tell anyone that we are here, and I will see that as an attack worth killing you over.”
❤ Itadori Yuji disappeared off the face of the earth exactly one year ago. Theories, accusations, and threats have been made during the search to bring him home, but no worthwhile progress has been made in light of the efforts of those who care about him.
