"Hey, baby, look at me," Ilya tries. He grabs Shane's face and wipes the sweaty hair from his forehead. "Shane, please? Are you okay? What's your colour?"
Shane's eyes drift towards Ilya slowly, until their gazes lock. Ilya stares into the depths of his eyes, searching for anything that shows that Shane is still in there somewhere, and that is when Shane snaps back into reality like he has been struck by lightning. His eyes widen as he sucks in a big sharp breath and starts pulling away, away, and away. Away from Ilya. He starts feverishly tugging at the restraints that are still holding his wrists firmly in place on the headboard. And now, he is no longer silent.
Instead, Shane sobs.

While the whole "tying Shane up" thing sounds fun at first, it is not so fun anymore when Shane has a panic attack when trying it.

Or, Shane starts having episodes—flashbacks he doesn’t fully remember—that bleed into sleep, into games, into the space between him and Ilya. He loses time. He loses weight. He loses control of the carefully engineered life he built to feel safe. Ilya isn’t the only one confused—because Shane won’t let himself remember. And when the ice finally cracks, it’s not just their marriage on the line.

Basically a very self-indulgent fic about how hard it would be for Ilya to actually move on from the pain of the past and to go no contact with his family in a timeline where Grigori is still alive. Also, Ilya deserves to be known and loved by more people than just Shane and Sveta. Forced/Found Family here we come.
