Alicent’s breath caught. The world seemed to tilt for a moment as she met Rhaenyra’s gaze, the princess’s violet eyes filled with an emotion that Alicent didn’t dare name. "You would choose me... over the Crown?" Alicent asked, her voice trembling.
Rhaenyra smiled, soft and sure, her hand reaching out to cover Alicent’s. "I am the Crown," she said simply, her voice steady. "And the Crown loves you."
ADDED: Daemon thinking that after he divorces Rhea Royce he is finally free from her, years later his son falls for her and weds her. Daemon: 😑
Basically an alternate au of dance of the dragons where nobody wins.

I looked out at Haymitch again, now tossing a stone into the air, catching it, tossing it again. He wasn’t anything special, not yet. Just a smart-mouthed seam kid so alike yet so very different from us, too quick with comebacks and too slow to see trouble coming.

Maybe she was right.
Maybe he was somebody.We just didn’t know it yet.
And maybe we were, too.
Though none of us would have said it out loud. Not in Twelve. Not when the Reaping was only days away.
Because in District 12, being somebody only meant they’d remember your name when they carved it into the stone and if you were lucky enough to have a body to bring back, bury what remained into the cold dirt, where you shall forever lay.
The irony was that true freedom in District 12 could be found only in death.

but, the image of jackie’s blood-slicked fingers, the way she held that knife earlier, makes shauna’s mouth water.

the thought is sharp, visceral. there’s something about the way jackie, the class queen of 1996, looks at her sometimes. like shauna could break her in an instant. and maybe she can. maybe she wants to. maybe she already has.

jackie knows. she feels it, even when shauna doesn’t say a word. the way she looks at her; like she's dissecting her. like she's studying her skin, the curve of her throat, the pulse of her veins, trying to figure out how to tear her apart.
she looks away, fast. but, she catches herself looking back anyways. and every time, her heart stutters, her lips wet with the nervous habit of needing to say something.
but all she can think of is the way shauna regards her, like a bullet through the brain—quick, clean, fatal.
