Jason didn't know what he wanted, he just knew that there was a void in his heart that was begging to either be filled or shut down completely.
He wasn't loved correctly, he wasn't even sure if he was loved at all. But it was his fault anyway, he pushed and pushed until there's was too big of a gap to close. The void growing more by the day. Every reminder of how little he was wanted fed that void until it burned.
He craves and avoids affection so hard that he's destroying himself.
Or
Jason is sad and doesn't know how to fix it.

Summary
He barely manages to stifle the scream, his entire leg lighting up in pain as he stumbles, trying to keep his balance. With a wheezing grunt, he swings his knife again, the long arc taking the last of the venus flytraps down at the stem. He pants as they hit the ground, writhing around like little snakes and emitting a high, buzzing, dying scream that makes him want to shove the kris right in his ear.
Thankfully, it dies down quickly, leaving just him… the silence… and the bear trap that has snapped closed on his right calf.
