Слова прозвучали в ответ сухо и резко, выплюнутые сквозь крепко стиснутые зубы, почти зло. Мастер и бровью не повел, в лице даже не изменившись, только руки выправив, машинально сжав и разжав пальцы. Посмотрел на него весомо, выразительно, не страшась, глаза в глаза. Он слышал все глубоко спрятанное: отчаяние, тревогу, надрыв. Он знал его так хорошо, он знал его, он писал его своей рукой.

After Robby calls time of death on the closest thing he's ever had to a father, a week passes. Despite everyone knowing this day was coming, a shockwave passes through the ER.
"The department needs an acting Chief of Emergency Medicine until a formal recruitment process can be implemented," Gloria tells him.
He'd been too focused on his work to even consider what needs to happen now that Adamson is gone. He's almost surprised Gloria waited a whole week.

He mutters, "I'm not letting go until you tell me what you're going to do when you've crossed state lines."
"I told you," Robby huffs, "Beer. Hot apple cider. Maybe a chicken pot pie on the porch of some good Samaritan who takes pity on me."
"Yeah? Chicken pot pie?" Jack hums, raising his eyebrows, receiving an affirming nod from the other. "Gonna go on a stereotypical-ass spirit journey? That's what you're going to do, Michael? That's the reason you hugged me like that? Like you were savoring it?"

Summary
He focuses on Robby, ignoring the slides behind him. Noting the gentle product he ran through his hair this morning, dabbed lightly on the tips of his fingers and guided through bed-fluffy strands. Appreciating the apples of his cheeks and the light flush that fades into his beard, the way his lips curl around certain words and his tongue darts out to dampen them.
Occasionally, Robby’s eyes will meet his own. Holding on for a syllable or two before fluttering off to another audience member, always engaging, always welcoming someone in.
For fifteen minutes Robby speaks, for fifteen minutes Jack holds tight on to shore.

Summary
A juvenile presents to the Pitt with an infected laceration. When Robby goes to examine, he finds that it's not only infected, the leg is dead from the knee-down. He breaks the news to his religious mother, who takes out a gun and gives Dr. Robinavitch an ultimatum: either he fixes the leg without amputation, or he dies.
At home, Jack struggles with guilt after an argument with Robby the prior night. He doesn't have time to make a proper apology with their shifts, but at the very least, he can bring Robby lunch as a peace offering.
