Summary
Theodore weakly opened his eyes, vision still slightly blurred. Looking around the dense forest, he realized he was in a small clearing surrounded by tall weeds. When he was knocked out, the moon was at its peak, but now the sun was rising in the distance, stars fading in its light. As he scanned the area for predators, a strong smell hit his nose.
At first, Theodore couldn’t tell what it was or where it was coming from, but then, it hit him; the familiar stench of blood. It was coming from him. Around him, the once-green grass and weeds were now soaked red, with more of it pouring out of holes in his body. He whimpered then coughed, blood trickling out of his mouth. Weakly, he began to remember what happened before he woke up. Why he was so hurt.
