Ruben only agreed to drive Niall north because it was supposed to be simple: one night in Ruben grandmother’s old house, a few boxes of photo albums, then home before the snow got worse.
But the snow keeps falling. The road disappears. The house is colder than expected, the fire refuses to behave, and Niall keeps looking at Ruben like he has found something worth keeping.
Ruben can handle the weather. He can handle the axe, the dark, the silence, and the old memories waiting inside the walls.
He cannot handle Niall leaving for college.

“Well?” The word was a low growl, a blatant challenge. “Show me what you’ve got, kid.”
Yuuji froze, breath caught in his throat.
All he could do was stare. The words replayed over and over in his head as he searched for the punchline, for the final nail in his coffin. Heat rose to his cheeks, refusing to fade, and the silence that followed nearly felt worse than the entire conversation itself.
“What?” he managed.
Sukuna’s smile was a slow, cruel twist. “You heard me.”
After finding an old video of Sukuna online, Yuuji spends a miserable week trying, and failing, not to think about it. Sukuna helps him not think about it.
