✰ alastor and vox have a sleepover at voxs apartment and vox insists the two watch a movie on the tv, which alastor initially resists, due to his hatred of modern technology, or any technology past his death, but eventually gives in seeing how excited vox is about it. they have popcorn and fall asleep cuddling. in the quiet of his apartment, with the glow of his screen as their only light, it's easily to forget that this is still the 1950's—and that some truths are still too dangerous to say out loud.

“So you’ve never celebrated Christmas before?” Vincent asked Alastor who sat firmly in his side of the couch.
It’s been several months since the two serial killers moved in together in downtown Louisiana, but it’s clear the pair had different ideas of how to celebrate the holidays.
“I never understood the joy of partaking in such jovial activities,” Alastor continued. “So, no— I don’t think so.”
Vincent’s head lit up with an idea in mind.
Or: Vincent shows Alastor what it’s like to spend Christmas, although it turned out to be not quite as he had planned (in a good way).

Vox decides to communicate with Alastor. Which goes bad at the beginning, but it helps Alastor realize something. He does care about Vox, but unfortunately not in the way Vox wants it. So, he wants to settle all this down.
This fic has a lot of acceptance and emotion in it. In the first chapter, there is a set up to both their perspectives and feelings. And in the following chapters, there is the actual smut.
(Also I squeezed some quick sketches in that I drew while thinking about this fic ^^)

Summary
He thought he was doing the right thing, that detachment would spare them both and that denying Vox’s affection, therefore pushing him back into a safer distance, was mercy. He convinced himself it was. That Vox deserved someone who could hold those feelings without flinching, someone who wouldn’t look at love like it was a trap door ready to snap.
To him, love—or whatever this fragile, delicate thing sparking between them back then—had been nothing but a temporary endeavor, fragile and unpredictable, and Alastor didn’t like things he couldn’t control. Love was for the foolish. For the weak, not meant for creatures proud like him. He wasn’t going to let himself be seen weak in any way—not even by his cherished best friend.
So he let it die. He let them die before it could grow into something real.

Summary
Something terrible happened to Alastor in his human life and when he wakes up in Hell, he finds himself as prey for the vicious sinners around him. Desperate, he makes a deal he comes to regret.
Vox is fascinated by the deadly, untouchable Radio Demon and somehow manages to charm the man who initially wanted his head. They strike up a friendship that leads to some fluttery feelings on both ends, but before anything can develop, Alastor's deal (and a certain moth-demon) cause complications.
Misunderstandings and broken hearts ensue, and a blossoming romance sours into something messy and hateful.
And then Alastor disappears for 7 years. When he returns, his fight with Adam leaves him wounded and vulnerable, and Vox decides that it's time to put an end to the man who destroyed both his heart and his afterlife.
But his complicated feelings for Alastor won't let him end his life and it turns out that they miss each other more than either of them realised. Can they salvage the ashes of their relationship, or will Valentino and questionable deals destroy them both?

The Radio Demon shook his head fitfully, trying to banish the darkness that enrobed his vision and letting out a throaty growl when it refused to budge. Of course, with the blindfold wrapped over his eyes and knotted neatly at the back of his head, he really shouldn’t have been surprised. He shouldn’t tolerate this robbery of his vision. He didn’t want to, but there was nothing he could do about it.
He rattled his wrists viciously to try and wrench them free, but they were still stretched above his head, spread and pinioned by manacles of angelic steel. He was suspended from what he could only assume was a ceiling or beam, but without sight there was no telling. He could have taken stock by calling out and seeing what his echoes fed him, but the bar gag in his mouth prevented even that. He clenched his razor sharp fangs around it and felt frustration in him rise when that bit of truculence yielded nothing.
The Radio Demon was trapped.

Vox paused in the middle of untangling a length of silk rope.
“...Would that make you more or less into it?” Vox shot back, one eyebrow raised, his tone as wry as Alastor's had been. As though having the Radio Demon over at his tower, pawing through various straps, harnesses and machines Alastor couldn't begin to fathom the purpose of was just the sort of thing that happened for him, on a Friday.

Alastor materialized into existence next to the door, dripping water from his clothes, fur, and hair onto the runner just inside the door. “I detest rain.”
“Mm. It’s not so bad.” Vox sipped his coffee and nodded towards the window, where rain was pattering against the pane. “I think it’s kinda nice.”
“‘Nice’,” Alastor scoffed, flipping upside down to wring his hair out onto the rug. He muttered to himself as water ran into his ears, righting himself to shake off like a dog. “Yes, definitely. I love being soaked to the bone and shivering my tail off.”

Once Alastor’s back made contact with the brick wall and he had nowhere else to go, his smile more of a gruesome snarl with the corners of his mouth still tipped up in a mock smile and eyes radio dials, Vox was able to get close enough to notice a slight shade difference in his red shirt, just below his shoulder. His lower lip looked more swollen than normal too- no, Vox would not be admitting to knowing what shape it usually was to anyone besides himself- causing him to frown.

After Vox gets pushed too far by Valentino Charlie brings him to the Hazbin Hotel so he can recover, while Vox is there him and Alastor strike a deal that could either bring them closer together or cause Vox to lose everything he has bleed to create.
