“Just hurry and go. Look, I’ll take care of Ryan.” Charlie said, just loud enough to be heard over the alarms. “Don’t worry about him. Just keep running, don’t look back.”
It was a classic hero line, wasted on a universe that wasn't listening, only observing.

Good, because the next part?
The part where they travel thousands of years into the future and into another universe where everyone somehow developed a collective hero complex, some very specific ideas about who belongs, and magic powers?
Yeah... That's where it gets a little weird.
