He'd spent half of it bitter and heartbroken. And in the end found his other half just as devastated. Found things awkward and completely distorted. Fell back into avoidance, hadn't got a chance to talk. He'd spent three years Up There, then got merely a few short hours with his demon before watching him disappear.
He'd been going so slow, he'd been doomed to be too late.

After the war in Heaven, God didn't just cast out the Fallen Angels, they erased the memories of all those who remained loyal. If they don't remember what, or who, they lost then there's no chance of fraternization. Meanwhile, as part of their punishment, all the Fallen remember exactly what they lost. Crowley hopes he can help Aziraphale remember who they were to each other, however long that takes.

Aziraphale and Crowley fell in love before the Fall. Aziraphale doesn't remember but part of Crowley's punishment is remembering everything but his name.
Favorite things:
–Crowley tries (and succeeds) to let go of their past. Falling again for Aziraphale instead of projecting what they had into their new relationship.
–6000 years of pining
–The absences. Not meeting often at first, Crowley needing time to heal and see Aziraphale again. Taking his time to find who he is now.
–Aziraphale steadily falling for Crowley.

Summary
He can talk to Petey in a way he can’t talk to the others. He can tell Petey just about anything and trust that he’ll get it. Or at least won’t be weird about it.
Maybe that does make him Mark’s favourite. That’s okay, though, isn’t it? It’s okay to have a best friend. It’s normal. He’s lucky to have a best friend.
