Summary
For years, Berk has been tormented by a strange creature. It's not a dragon, but it doesn't resemble any other kind of animal either. No Viking has ever seen its complete form, but it was impossible not to hear its cry every nightfall, a deafening sound. Some elders say it's the cry of true death. But there's something else to note about this creature: its eyes, as black as an abyss, reflect the soul of anyone who looks into them at night. Always in the shadows, always lurking, a predator that never hunts but lets its victims approach of their own accord.
What they don't know is that the creature is closer than they can even imagine, but secrets can't last forever, and all Snotlout could do was watch his humanity slowly being replaced by that winged monster.
