However, between the drama of the Triwizard Tournament, the Horcruxes stashed in his sock drawer, and Snape's increasingly despairing attempts to explain moral philosophy to him, Harry's plans for world domination might be experiencing a brief hiccup or two.
Aside from those rather minor issues, Harry seems to be right on track to lead a perfectly normal life. But, when it comes to plotting, the high-pitched voice in his head might have a few ideas of its own.

Summary

He, Ron and Hermione, are about to start their third year at Hogwarts, with new subjects and a new defence against the dark arts teacher – and an old friend of Harry's father and godfather. But there is all that mess to sort out with Pettigrew on the loose and Harry's godfather being searched for by the aurors. When Harry gets to Hogwarts, the atmosphere is tense. The dementors are guarding the school, his movements are supposed to be closely monitored, and the focus of the aurors' search is still on Sirius. Perhaps Harry could point them in the right direction...

Summary
What if Snape had agreed to become the Head of Slytherin House, not because Dumbledore wanted him to, but because he wanted to save Slytherin? What if he used his cunning to reform the house right under Dumbledore's nose?
He could save some of the Slytherins from the mistakes he made. He could find the ones who wanted to walk away and help them. And if he created in them a house loyalty deeper than their loyalty to Voldemort, the ones who wouldn’t walk away might be able to save each other in the end. The first step was to keep them from becoming willing slaves while here at Hogwarts.
Severus knew from his own years here that Slytherins were happiest when they were plotting. The problem was that Hogwarts wasn’t structured to give them drama, so they had had to create it. If he could keep them busy with other things, they might learn how to focus their energy. The House Cup had long since lost its allure as it was biased, so he would have to create other challenges for them. After all these bitter years, he had nothing kind left in him, but in the end, the choice was easy. He did it for her. Because it was something she would want him to do if she still lived.

Summary
Tom Riddle went into the Potter home to kill an infant—he woke up face to face with a Dementor. There's a dead Black lying next to him that he can't remember having murdered, but Lord Voldemort has gotten out of worse situations than a spotty memory and a missing wand.
Trapped in Harry Potter's cursed life, Tom is racing against Albus' suspicions and his other self's attempts at a coup. The UK is only big enough for one of them to rule, and Lord Voldemort didn't become a Dark Lord just to take second place.
