Summary
Jiang Cheng leaves Lotus Pier before the Wen Internment Camp and before the destruction of his home. Just an empty shell, and nothing can change it. Aren’t you aware already? I’m a prideful man. This village is the only place that could possibly accept what I’ve become.”
This is false, Lan Xichen desperately wants to argue, the words stuck in his throat along with a quiet realization. I could accept you, if only you could give me a chance-
But how can he utter those words? It never was his place to ask such a thing when Jiang Cheng’s new life revolved around the verdant fields and pastures now.
