Summary
He has Rocky make a couple thousand metres of Xenonite string. It is taking a few tries for Rocky to get the right level of thickness, stretchiness, softness. The yarn takes a lot longer to perfect than the needles, which Grace received ages ago. Yarn has energy, the twist using kinetic energy to create its very structure, Grace knows, from using it as a teaching method in his classroom. Rocky tells him that one of his siblings (lit. clutchmates) was a fabric fabricator, his claws waving as he tells story after story, suddenly opening up now that Erid seems a possibility - for Rocky, anyway.
Grace takes apart one of Ilyukhina’s sweaters and practices his stitches.
It passes the time.

Summary
Forced to stay with her estranged grandfather over the summer break, Anna could think of a million other things she would rather be doing. In the Middle of Nowhere, Mississippi, a place with no internet and barely functioning cable, Anna slowly comes to appreciate the peace and quiet away from the hustle of the city. However, with Grandpa Hal being an avid botanist, the summer break takes a most interesting turn when he brings home a new species of plant that not even he has seen before.
One that can most definitely feel, maybe even think...

Summary
"Robert, what the fuck is going on? Are you actually getting a new job or something?" Punch Up asked. "I get that it's none of our business, but..."
"What? No, I'm not getting a new job," Robert said, and the surprise at least sounded completely honest in his voice. He paused, and Flambae could almost feel the wheels turning in his head even across the distance as he tried to decide how much to tell them.
There was a pause.
"I wasn't going on a date. And I'm not getting another job. I was going to a funeral," he said finally.
"Oh," Mal said quietly.
"My condolences," Coop added a little louder.
"I..." Robert started and then swallowed.
"You don't have to explain," Flambae said, because yeah. Okay, this really wasn't their business, even if he wished Robert knew that he could lean on them if he needed.
"No, it's part of the job," Robert continued, though that made no fucking sense. "I was Mecha Man for... god, more than fifteen years. I had about two dozen make-a-wish kids. And I try to keep in contact, if the parents are willing."
Oh.
Oh, Jesus.
