The first time Hatake Kakashi first realized he’d developed a fear of his soulmate was, quite ironically, when he was in a situation when he should’ve been fearful of everything but his alleged, universe-chosen lover.
Being a detective was in his job description, right alongside arson, assassination, espionage, interrogation, and the occasional required field medicine—but he found it incredibly fucking difficult to be a detective when the visible spectrum of color his eyes registered kept changing with every kilometer he moved away from the village. It was downright nauseating.
[i.e.] Kakashi has a soulmate, but he really doesn't want one.
