Summary
Eve brings her hand to the side of Villanelle’s face and gently brushes a strand of hair behind her ear. Guided by instinct, Villanelle turns her head so that she can kiss Eve’s palm that’s caressing her cheek. The whole situation is gentle and soft in a way Villanelle has never experienced before; then again, she’s never felt like this before.
When she meets Eve’s eyes, they’re full of wonder, admiration, and something else. Fondness? Villanelle isn’t sure, but she never wants Eve to stop looking at her like this.
She accepts that they can’t look at each other forever when Eve brings a hand to Villanelle’s neck and pulls her into another deep kiss. It’s wonderful, the way their lips move together in such effortlessly perfect sync. Eve tries to pull her immensely closer and Villanelle wants to comply like she’s never complied before.
“I’m so sorry for not just accepting this sooner,” Eve says between kisses. “This is what I should’ve done when I first met you.”

Because when Eve looks at her, it’s clear she doesn’t see a monster or a machine. Eve recognizes Villanelle’s rare combination of grief, regret and relief and she reflects it with her own eyes, feeling it so strongly that her eyes begin welling with tears. And soon, Villanelle can’t help but surrender to the same emotions herself.

"The crux of the issue was that Villanelle really just didn’t know what to do with the fact that Eve loved her enough to make the night all about her. Eve was making love to her, Villanelle thought suddenly. She’d never used that phrase before, always finding it cheesy and cringeworthy, but there really wasn’t anything else that fit."
OR
Villanelle can't cope with the emotions that come with soft sex and ends up with a case of the post-sex blues. Eve is just so damn lovely.
