He pauses, the grief of centuries falling on his face like a curtain, "I just don’t know what ‘real’ looks like. Not after two hundred years playing the rake.” He searches Nyxal's face for something, but Nyx isn't sure what he's looking for, or what he finds.
“And? Are you still playing the rake?” Nyxal inquires. Astarion's posture falls, like a puppet with cut strings.
“Would that I were." He laments. "It is a hell of a lot easier for me. But no, I’m not playing anything. Not for you, at least. We’re rather past that, I think. No need to be anything but completely, achingly honest.” Astarion grimaces as he says this, as if the admission truly does pain him.

In no time at all, you reached the top, hands on the bannister by his, holding yourself up as you smiled with boyish glee. "Good evening, my prince."
Astarion grabbed onto the front of your shirt, nails scraping against fine embroidery. He didn't give a damn about it. "How long I've waited to taste you again," he sighed, tugging you up over the rail. You eagerly followed him, feet barely on solid ground before he was pulling you inside.
You cup his face, hands slotting familiarly against his jaw, eagerly pulling him close until your nose brushed his. He tugged your body to press against his. "You looked so gorgeous in your finery, my love." Your hot breaths fan against his lips, you're so close. "I wasn't sure I could contain myself."
Astarion growled, desperate. "Please, don't hold back any longer."

Astarion's lip is pulled back just short of a sneer. "The question is whether or not you still care about me. If you don't, we may as well just stop pretending." He stands.
"Of course I care about you, Astarion," you answer helplessly. "That will never change."
He approaches you-- steps down, only enough to bring the two of you to eye-level-- and brings a hand to your chin, tilting your head up, and your heart sinks as you recognize the look in his eyes. He's hiding again. "Let's not hear this talk again, hmm, pet?"
You hate that name.

So far, ‘We’ve Been Dosed with an Herbal Aphrodisiac’ was turning out to be relatively calm. Much calmer than the sock debacle.

The paladin’s view of the world might be more optimistic than he can stomach some days, but he is clearly not so naive as Astarion once thought. Somewhere, buried under all that shining armor and chivalry, Aurum has a wicked streak.
Inspired by the items my Tav (Aurum) carries in his pack for roleplaying reasons, this series is loosely linear at times, skipping over major plot points to examine the space between, the little bonding moments, and the growth of relationships over time. Astarion and Aurum (my Tav) explore kink and trauma together. (with guest appearances by Halsin)
First 4 chapters are mature/non-spicy, just dealing with big feelings and trauma.
