Summary
Whiteside is the pinnacle of human achievement. A place where prosperity and abundance have crafted a utopian society. Guides and sentinels keep the monsters at bay so the inhabitants can live in peace.
Grayside is everything else. The place beyond the walls. Where dungeons and monsters run rampant and humanity clings to whatever safe spaces it can find, relying on the few sentinels and guides they have to maintain a semblance of order and community.
Yunho, an earth sentinel in Grayside, finds Seonghwa unexpectedly one day, unwittingly rescuing him from a group of rebels hellbent on infiltrating and destroying Whiteside. He learns they kidnapped Seonghwa and used his guiding powers callously for their own ends.
Yunho would normally avoid the kind of trouble Seonghwa represents.
Good thing this isn't a normal story.

Yunho watches him for a moment, the joint going out in his hands; it’s about half way burnt down by now and Seonghwa can see the orange embers dim. As if finally coming to a decision, Yunho suddenly moves to grab his lighter off the table “we can try a different way… it’s a bit easier your first time.”
Seonghwa’s eyebrows drew together just a touch “yeah?”

Seonghwa didn’t quite know what to think. Every time he saw Yunho in passing, outside in the garden or helping his parents bring in the groceries, he was every bit the picture of a polite young man, giving Seonghwa a neighborly smile. Normal. Polite. Nothing to think twice about.
Except Seonghwa could also feel Yunho’s heated gaze on him when he wasn’t looking. As Seonghwa made small talk with Yunho’s parents or told his kids off for playing in the sprinklers without permission or brought his husband some lemonade as he cleaned out his golf bag in the driveway. Seonghwa would almost think he was imagining it, if he hadn’t caught him. Watching Seonghwa with that look in his eyes.
