Summary
Patrick Jane is recovering.
Technically.
The visible injuries are healing. The hospital is behind him. The worst of the blood, smoke, surgery, and terror has passed into the kind of aftermath everyone keeps trying to survive quietly. Lisbon brings him home. Cho makes him rest. Grace makes him eat. Rigsby carries what Jane cannot. Jane notices all of it.

But noticing care is not the same as believing it will stay.

Summary
“Yeah, sorry, just-” Pete huffs out a breath and leans in closer. “Planning my approach. There’s tactics involved,” He’s bluffing, mostly, half-joking - but he is, suddenly, very close to Patrick. He’s bracing one hand on the cushions just by Patrick’s head, kneeling next to him on the couch, and when he leans in enough to see the smudged traces of the makeup - he’s not at the right angle to feel the warmth of Patrick’s breath, but he’s basically close enough.
Patrick’s eye closes again, and Pete leans just that last little bit closer as brings up the cloth to brush it gently over Patrick’s eyelid.
Pete helps Patrick get his makeup off after the Halloween show. Then some other stuff happens. (Mostly talking)

Summary
Javert found he did not find grey to be as comforting a colour as black or white. Black and white: that is how he saw things. All his life, there had not been much thought spared to the shades in between. Man was either good or evil, an upholder of the law or a defier of it. If one strayed from the Lord's path, he could not be reconciled, not in the eyes of the law. Indeed, that is what Inspector Javert had long believed.
But the river looked grey. Jean Valjean, a convict, had saved his life. Things were not so clear now.

When Javert falls, Valjean is there to catch him. The unlikely friendship that follows proves strong enough to save them both. But another's love is a difficult thing to accept when one has lived his whole life without it.
