Summary
Ling began to prepare his own piece of bread. It was a peaceful scene. So peaceful that it was practically asking to be broken. "I'm gay." Ed blurted out, keeping his gaze on his slice of bread. Suddenly, he wanted to count each crumb on the food, just to keep his mind away from the situation he'd forced himself into. From the corner of his eye, he noticed the way Ling's movements noticeably slowed. "Well, I'm not strictly gay. I still like girls, but—"
"So you're bisexual?" Ling couldn't grow a filter for his mouth. For the first time in a while, Ling kept his eyes to himself, not prying into how Ed looked utterly bashful right now.

Summary
"Ling, what do you want? I thought visiting hours were done and over with." His nose scrunched up with discomfort. The light from the hallway was enough to hammer at his sleepiness.
"Aw, you knew it was me." Ling laughed, coming to a stop by his bed. "Come on, open your eyes!"
"I don't want to." He whined.
"Just do it, Ed!" It was hard to refuse when Ling sounded so cheery. When Ed found the strength to open his eyes and flop his head to look over, he spotted a wheelchair leaning against Ling's side. His confusion must've been clear on his face, as Ling grinned at him playfully. "You need to get out of this room, you know. I snuck in just to do this for you. You should be grateful."

After the fight with Father, Ed is forced into a hospital bed, and so was Ling. Perhaps it was Truth giving them more time before they departed once more.

"Why would I lie about that?" Watching as the light in Ed's eyes shined, he continued to hold him gently. "You know, I've always thought you were stunning. I know you shared many traits with other Xerxesians, but none of them have ever caught my eye like you have." A confidence began to grow in his chest; he leaned forward and planted a quick peck to Ed's forehead, "And I'm being honest, no one has captured my heart the way you have, Ed." When he looked at Ed's face, it was even redder than before.
Ling should've known to cherish the romantic moments he had with the prince.

Summary
Ed let out a heavy breath from his nose, his stomach shivered with a sense of ease, "Thanks for today, Ling." His words came out heavy—and muffled—as he felt a wave of exhaustion sweep over his mind. He yawned, earning a laugh from Ling.
"Of course. Warn me the next time you visit, I'll try to prepare something extra special." A hand tangled in with his golden hair, twirling strands playfully. Ed could picture the light smile on Ling's face and it warmed any lingering cold in his heart. "Xing will always have its arms open to you, you know that, right?" Unfrozen, his heart jumped with newfound energy, but his mind was still coaxing him to sleep.

Ed always finds himself coming back to Xing, with or without Ling's request, finding out that Ling is the person he considers safe.

Summary
"Mustang. It's nice to meet you." A hand is suddenly shoved in Ling's direction with the clear expectancy that it's to be shook. Ling doesn't miss a beat. He takes the hand, and the second his palm touches the man's, a crushing sensation crawls into his nerves. Ling pursed his lips at the sudden pain, and the man took notice immediately, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but your name is Ling, right? Ling Yao?"
