Summary
Enduring her curse isn’t easier for Anne after Solomon’s death, and she has to deal with new burdens too. She wonders what she could have done to prevent what happened to their family. She feels guilty about letting her uncle’s murderer get away with everything while at the same time she is terrified of what would happen to her twin if the Ministry found out the truth. She misses Sebastian and Ominis so much, yet she doesn’t know when she will be ready to meet them again. When Anne becomes friends with Poppy Sweeting while she stays in her grandmother’s house after fleeing Feldcroft, she feels unworthy of Poppy even as their friendship blooms into more.
And despite everything, Anne keeps on hoping too.
